 Zope Enterprise Objects (ZEO)
by: Bakhtiar A Hamid

Slow or unresponsive Web sites turn users off. Therefore it is imperative that site owners take necessary measures to scale their sites. With Zope, this is easy. Use Zope Enterprise Object, or ZEO for short – with an unresponsive site just add a Unix box, install ZEO Client and the rest is taken care of by ZEO. ZEO is also useful as a development tool and as a means of accessing Zope sites from the command line, which is very convenient.
  XML-RPC: Connecting Excel and Zope
by: Jürg Luthiger

In this article we describe how we used the XML-RPC protocol as a viable alternative to SOAP in order to connect Zope with a Microsoft Excel client. We illustrate this with the concrete example of an interface to a project management database.
  PyCon 2004

Details on the DC Python conference.
  Archetypes Part II
by: Sidnei da Silva

Archetypes (formerly known as CMFTypes) is a framework designed to ease the building of applications for Plone and CMF. It's main intention is to provide a common way to build content objects, based on schema definitions. This introductory article is the second in a series of articles about Archetypes ZopeMag is publishing.
Plone Workflows - Worklists, Variables and Scripts
by: K. Kirchner

Milos Prudek’s Plone Workflow article in ZopeMag issue 6 does a great job of explaining states and transitions and how you can create your own workflow or enhance existing ones. But there is more to workflows than states and transitions.
Guides:
SuperGuide for Users Roles and Zope Security (Section I)
K. Kirchner

Security is an important part when programming portal-like Websites or Websites that make use of a Content Management System (CMS). Zope's integrated security model helps greatly in reducing the time one has to put into creating an authorization and authentication process by providing user authentication and roles and permissions to define authorization. This SuperGuide will explain how to make use of this.
Product Reviews:
CMFSin
by: Kristoph Kirchner

CMFSin is a syndication tool for the CMF (Content Management Framework) and Plone. It allows site administrators to easily integrate RSS and RDF feeds from other sites on their CMF or Plone site by providing a box similar to the standard CMF/Plone News box.
PHParser/PHPGateway
by: Samuel Sotillo

PHParser/PHPGateway is a Zope product that allows zopists to use their PHP scripts under Zope and Plone. It consists of two objects: a DTML-based object and a folder-like object. It accesses PHP content through CGI allowing to use Zope as a sort of virtual server.
